I am a full time bamboo fly rod maker and do this together with my wife Joyce,
who helps me with the winding of the wraps, finishing the leather
rod tubes and also sews the fly rod bags.
The quadrate fly fishing rods are slightly wider than deep in the plane of bending but
hardly noticeable to the naked eye. This makes a significant difference when
it comes to performance. The technique used to hollow
the bamboo fly fishing rods together with the cross-sectional design make them a
pleasure to cast, feel very light in hand and throw the tightest loops. This
without sacrificing the ability to play the fish.
The bamboo fly rods can be purchased in two different finishes:
- Varnished and hand-polished
- Impregnated and finished with 8 layers of tung oil. A pleasant satin finish.
Blanks for most lengths and line weights are usualy available and every fly rod
can be finished and ready to be shipped in 2 to 4 weeks depending on the time
